The Hardhats
Beginning as an informal winter jam session that became a regular gathering of friends getting together to play challenging music just for the fun of it. When it came to naming the band, someone joked that the heads we were playing were hard enough to require hard hats, and The Hardhats was born.

This performance at Jazz Central Studios features Mitch Van Laar on trumpet, Denny Carlson on saxophones, Calvin Caron on upright bass, Mark Feinman on drums and Ian Duerr on piano.

When it came time to name the band, someone joked that the heads we were playing were hard enough to require hard hats, and The Hardhats was born.
The band will perform some of their favorite hard bop/ hard-hat-required jazz standards along with original compositions by various members of the group.
