About the Event
Guitarist Chris Graham emerged at a young age from the thriving Twin Cities jazz scene, where he had the privilege of learning from local legends. His early exposure to these seasoned musicians set him on the path to master his craft. Chris's journey continued at the New School in New York City, where he studied under elders of the music and was steeped in its tradition. Returning back home to the Twin Cities, he carried both the history of Black American music as well as the exacting standards for its execution as can only be found in NYC.
A collaborator at heart, Chris has shared the stage with a diverse array of Twin Cities artists, including Lucy Michelle, Javier Santiago, Ted Olsen, Aaron Hedenstrom, Chris Bates, and Adam Harder Nussbaum. These collaborations have not only expanded their musical horizons but also showcased his adaptability and versatility. His guitar work is a masterful interweaving of tradition and future, deeply rooted in a rich legacy while continuing to knock on the door of new possibilities. Chris’ live performances are a commitment to expression - an exploration of freedom and interplay that is always in service to the music. For this evening’s performance, Chris is thrilled to be joined by Matt Peterson (bass) and Miguel Hurtado (drums).
